This way, we help reduce the climate-impact outside our own operations. In order to reach the 1.5-degree target, we need to both reduce greenhouse gas emissions and at the same time absorb the carbon dioxide we have already emitted.
The transport sector is close to entirely dependent on fossil fuels and will continue to cause large emissions of CO2 for many years to come. Climate compensated transport is a quick and easy way to limit total emissions, and to take a stand for sustainable development.
Our investment goes directly to a project in Madagascar. The project we support reduces carbon dioxide emissions and counteracts deforestation by manufacturing and distributing efficient stoves and climate-friendly solar stoves. According to WWF, about 90 percent of the island was covered by forests at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, just under 10% remain. The project also plants two trees for each sold pan. The project is certified as Gold Standard, founded by WWF, among others.
